Who they are
The Paraujano, also known as the Añú people, are an indigenous people who traditionally live in villages built on stilts in the lagoons of Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela. Closely connected to the rivers and the sea, they make their living from fishing and crafts made with fibers from aquatic plants. Although most use Spanish in everyday life, they keep their riverside identity alive and strive to preserve their cultural traditions and dignity.
