People
Who they are
The Pisamira are a small Indigenous people originally from the Amazon region of Colombia’s Vaupés department. Historically linked to peoples of the Eastern Tucanoan tradition, they maintain ways of life closely connected to the forest and rivers. Faced with profound social changes and language loss, the community strives to preserve its identity and sustain its families’ livelihoods.
