Who they are
The Rengma are a Naga people living in Nagaland and Assam, in northeastern India. They once practiced slash-and-burn farming; today they farm permanent plots. Their society is organized into clans, and inheritance passes through the father. Traditionally animists, they are now Christians, mainly Baptists. Their main festival is Ngada, held after the harvest in the last week of November, with feasting, dancing, and thanksgiving.
