Who they are
The Saterland Frisians form a small historical community in northwestern Germany, in the region of Lower Saxony. Geographic isolation enabled them to preserve their distinct language, Saterland Frisian, one of the last remaining varieties of East Frisian. With a strong attachment to local traditions and ancient Christian roots, they seek today to keep their cultural identity alive amid modernization.
