Who they are

The Shahari, also known as Jibbali, inhabit the mountains and plateaus of the Dhofar region in southern Oman. Custodians of a rich cultural heritage tied to the lands of frankincense, they preserve their own South Arabian language, distinct from standard Arabic. Their community identity is shaped by pastoral life in the hills and by a deep Muslim tradition.
