People
Who they are
The Siona are an Indigenous people who traditionally live along the rivers of the western Amazon, especially in the Putumayo River basin. Known for their deep knowledge of the forests and rivers, they keep their own language of the Western Tucanoan family alive. Historically connected to hunting, fishing, and traditional farming, they preserve a strong sense of community in the face of outside pressures on their lands and resources.
