The Sumu, also known as the Mayangna, are an indigenous people living in the tropical forests and along the rivers of Central America, mainly in Nicaragua and Honduras. As traditional stewards of dense forests, they preserve their native language and a way of life closely connected to nature, while facing growing challenges in protecting their ancestral lands.
