Who they are
The Tanaina, also known as the Dena’ina, are an Indigenous Athabaskan people native to south-central Alaska. Notable as the region’s only Athabaskan group with a maritime tradition around Cook Inlet, they preserve a rich cultural heritage connected to salmon fishing, hunting, and a deep respect for their ancestral lands and rivers.
