Who they are
The Tonocoté are an Indigenous people native to the Santiago del Estero region of north-central Argentina. With strong ties to the Dulce and Salado river basins, they preserve their communal way of life and attachment to rural land. Despite the strong linguistic influence of Santiago del Estero Quechua and Spanish, they keep their historical memory and distinct identity as a people alive.
