Who they are
The Chitrakar are a traditional community of artisans and visual storytellers in India, historically known for painting narrative scrolls and figures linked to their beliefs. Their very name refers to the craft of painting. Rooted in Marathi culture and language, they preserve a generational heritage in which artistic expression and Hindu devotion go hand in hand in everyday life.
