People
Who they are
The Magoma live in Makete District, in the Njombe Region of southern Tanzania. They are a Bantu-speaking people, often regarded as a subgroup of the Kinga. However, the languages of the two peoples differ significantly, which supports the distinct identity of the Magoma. Most identify as Christians, and a substantial proportion follow their traditional religions.
