Who they are
The Suri live in eastern South Sudan, including the Boma Plateau, and in southwestern Ethiopia. They are also known as Baale and Kacipo. They speak Suri Kacipo-Bale, a language distinct from that of the Tirmaga and Chai groups, who also use the name Suri. In both countries, the vast majority follow traditional religions, and Christians form a small minority.
