Who they are
The Atacameño are an Indigenous people native to the valleys and oases of the Atacama Desert and the Andean Puna region. Traditionally known as Likan Antai, they developed remarkable irrigation techniques and ways of living with the extreme aridity of the Andes. Although their ancestral language, Kunza, is no longer spoken in everyday life, they maintain a strong communal identity, expressed through their attachment to the land and their rich ceremonial life.
