The yukpa coyaima are an indigenous subgroup of the Cariban linguistic family inhabiting the slopes of the Serranía de Perijá, between Colombia and Venezuela. Traditionally dedicated to agriculture and communal life in the mountainous forests, they preserve a rich oral tradition and strong ties to their ancestral land, resisting territorial pressures across generations.
